POLICE are warning drivers of 4x4s to be vigilant after two thefts in two days.

On Monday, a blue Mitsubishi Shogun was stolen from Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. Its owner had left the vehicle for a few minutes with its keys in the ignition.

On Tuesday, a green Land Rover Defender was stolen from a field outside Huby, near Harrogate. It was taken from near where its owner was working.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Such vehicles remain a popular choice of car thieves and they need to be properly locked and alarmed when parked, or left."
