A TEENAGER was yesterday jailed for three years for robbing a younger boy of a £640 scooter.

Only two months after coming out of jail for a previous offence, Kevin Rowbotham, 19, along with two friends, terrified their 17-year-old victim into handing over his newly-acquired motorbike.

Rowbotham, of Breward Walk, Hartlepool, admitted robbery and was locked up again by a judge at Teesside Crown Court.

His barrister, Paul Cleasby, said the offence, on August 12, lacked aggravating features such as violence and the presence of a weapon, and was at the lower end of the robbery scale.

But Recorder Julian Goose told Rowbotham: "You have an appalling record for someone who is only aged 19.

"Perhaps you are beginning to realise that it is not going to get you anywhere if you continue committing offences, other than going back to custody.2
