A SWIMMING pool will be closed for more than two months for refurbishment.
The pools at Chester-le-Street District Council's leisure centre, in Burns Green, will close on Monday and reopen on January 3.
Suspended ceilings will be replaced and energy-efficient lighting will be installed.
The rest of the centre will stay open, although the gymnasium will be closed for seven to ten days from November 28.
Cast iron pipes in the plant room underneath the pools will be renewed and filters will be refurbished.
Gym members will have two weeks added to their membership to compensate for the closure, unless they pay by Direct Debit, in which case one month's charge will be halved.
