COLLEGE students staged a St Trinian's Day to boost charity funds yesterday.

Youngsters at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, dressed up to raise money for the Asian earthquake appeal and North-East Children's Cancer Research.

Danielle Klentzeris, students' entertainments manager, said: "It's a fun day to mark the end of the first half-term, but the serious side is raising funds for two very worthwhile charities.

"We've encouraged all staff and students to dress up in their old school uniforms and to really enter into the spirit of the day."

Loose change collections were taken throughout the day.
