A WOMAN who had a lung transplant is raising money to help Newcastle's Freeman Hospital, where she had the operation in February last year.

With the help of family and friends, Lesley Earnshaw, 50, of Maxwell Close, Darlington, has raised almost £4,000 for the hospital's Respiratory Medicine Fund. The latest fundraiser was a charity night at Darlington Football Club's Feethams ground, supported by the band, Musical Time Machine, and the club chairman, George Reynolds.

It raised £1,697.48, which was handed to John Dark, the surgeon who performed the operation
