POLICE who raided a house in Billingham have seized hundreds of what are thought to be counterfeit computer games and music CDs.
Forensic tests are currently being carried out on the items. A man and a woman were arrested at the house and are on police bail pending the results of the tests.
Fraud Squad officers and police from Billingham seized 550 games as well as a computer system.
Terry Anslow, chief investigator of the European Leisure Software Publishers' Association, praised the police action and said: "Due to the prompt action of the Fraud Squad officers, a large quantity of suspected illegal goods have been prevented from entering the market place."
Detective Sergeant Phil Murphy, of Cleveland's Fraud Squad, said: "Producing and selling counterfeit goods is a crime and for many it is big business, but it is a business we are determined to help stamp out."
