PLANS for a new social club will improve the fitness of hospital staff.
Bishop Auckland Hospital is being rebuilt in a £67m scheme to create a building that will bring all its services under one roof. Now a sports and social club could be added, if outline planning permission is granted.
The Bishop Auckland Social Club is temporarily situated in a Portacabin, but the new building would be on the site of demolished staff properties on Escomb Road.
The proposal will be discussed at Wear Valley District Council's next planning meeting, on Wednesday, at Crook Civic Centre.
