A CLIMBER who survived a 1,000ft fall down a mountain was comfortable in a Scottish hospital last night.
The 43-year-old man, from the Darlington area, slipped and fell while making a solo climb up Stob Coire Nan Lochan, in Glencoe.
He escaped with leg and back injuries following the fall on Thursday and was airlifted by helicopter to Belford Hospital, in Fort William.
The climber, who does not wish to be named, has since been transferred to the Raigmore Hospital, in Inverness, where a spokesman said last night: "He is comfortable and, although he is still suffering from an ankle injury, he is expected to make a full recovery."
