POLICE investigating the murder of a man found on a country road believe three people could hold vital information.

Mystery surrounds the death of David Williamson, 58, of Sutton-on-the-Forest, near Easingwold, North Yorkshire.

He was found lying unconscious on a road between Sutton-on-the-Forest and Huby, at about 5.30am on March 26, and died later in hospital.

Police are appealing for the driver of a dark saloon car, seen in the Bentley's Barn area at the time, to come forward.

Detectives also want to speak to a middle-aged man, who is believed to regularly walk a black and white springer spaniel in the area of Skates Lane, early in the morning.

A man wearing dark clothing and white trainers, who was walking along Wigginton Road at about 5.30am on the day Mr Williamson's body was found, is also said to be vital to the inquiry.

A local man who was arrested in connection with the death is on police bail.
