SINGER Robbie Williams has agreed to release his track, Angels, to North-east radio station Galaxy 105-106, to support Durham Road Safety's latest advertising campaign.

Robbie has previously refused permission for the track to be used for advertising purposes, because he wrote it for his mother.

The commercial was created by Galaxy DJ Terry Golding and features the singing talents of Zoe Pouton, eight, and Jonathan Lincoln, ten, both from Durham.

The children play a brother and sister and the commercial finishes on a haunting note with the little girl singing the line "I'm loving angels instead" on her own after her brother has been knocked down in a road accident.

Mr Golding passed on the demo to Robbie Williams's management company.

The chart-topper was so moved that a licence has been issued for Angels to support the campaign to get drivers to slow down.

Durham Road Safety's Alan Kennedy said yesterday: "We have far too many very young children injured in County Durham, including one or two fatalities recently.

"At this time of the year, when they are on summer holidays, we desperately need to get parents and drivers to realise just how vulnerable children are.

"It is marvellous news that Robbie Williams is prepared to support us in this, and I hope it helps us to get our message across."
