RADIO One has confirmed the line-up for one of Teesside's biggest music events.

This year's One Big Sunday, taking place in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, on Sunday, August 19, will feature Samantha Mumba, the Super Furry Animals, Artful Dodger and Mel Blatt, Kosheen and DJ Luck, and MC Neat.

It will be one of the first times that former All Saint Ms Blatt has performed since the group's split earlier this year.

Her new single with Artful Dodger, 24/7, is due for release in early September.

A Radio One spokeswoman said curiosity over Ms Blatt's latest offering should bring people flocking to the event.

"It will be the biggest event that she will have played since the break-up," she said. "I think that will be a big selling point."

It is expected that Welsh band Super Furry Animals, whose latest single, Juxtapose, is in the charts, will also attract a large following, along with Samantha Mumba, who performed at last year's event.

The show will be presented by Radio One DJs Sara Cox and Jamie Theakston.

It will be broadcast live on the radio from 2pm to 4pm, as well as online at www.bbc.co.uk/radio1.

Last year's concert, which attracted a crowd of 60,000, featured a solo debut single by Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, who caused a sensation when her outfit showed more than she planned.

The only possible hiccup to this year's event is the fact that Middlesbrough Borough Council has yet to grant a public entertainment licence.

Councillors will meet to discuss the matter today, after concerns were raised that rap duo DJ Luck and MC Neat's fans were known to have caused problems at previous concerts.
