Bishop Auckland

the Under-18s drew 2-2 away to Trimdon Juniors as they prepare for the new season in the Auckland and District Youth League, Dean Maddison and Keith Fairley scoring for Bishops.

New signing Fairley also scored in a 4-3 defeat away to Gateshead Redheugh Boys Club midweek.

Willington lost 3-1 at home to Marsden. Paul Bailes was the home scorer as Willington missed numerous chances.

"Marsden had three chances and scored three goals. We had 75 per cent of the play, but just couldn't find the net," bemoaned manager Robert Lee.

Meanwhile, youngsters will be able to watch Bishop Auckland's home games for only a pound next month. As an experiment, boys and girls under 15 will pay £1 admission for UniBond League premier division games at Kingsway.

The first home game is on Tuesday September 4 when north east rivals Gateshead visit Kingsway. Bishops' other home fixtures in September are against Lancaster City (Sat. 8th), Worksop Town (Wed. 19th) and Runcorn (Sat. 22nd).

Bishops start their league programme this Saturday (Aug. 18th) with a trip to Hyde United. Relegated Spennymoor United begin life in the UBL first division with an away fixture at Trafford in Greater Manchester.
