A FLOWER festival has started a weekend of activities in an east Cleveland village to celebrate the centenary of the local church.
St Aidan's Church has been at the centre of village life in Boosbeck for the past 100 years. Residents decided to celebrate the occasion with a series of events, which are taking place at the church this weekend.
A flower festival opened yesterday, and is open to members of the public to admire the displays from 10am to 4pm until Monday.
Tonight, Lingdale Silver Band will give a concert, starting at 7.30pm. Although there is no admission charge, donations would be welcome.
Tomorrow, a festival Eucharist takes place at 10am - to be attended by the Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope. This will be followed by a buffet in the vicarage.
There will also be a festival evensong with the choir from York Minster tomorrow night at 6pm, which will be led by the new Archdeacon of Cleveland, the Venerable John Paul Ferguson
