PEOPLE with dyslexia and their families are invited to find out how they can get help with mathematics skills as well as literacy.
As part of Dyslexia Awareness Week, the Darlington Dyslexia Institute is hoping to help as many adults and children as it can.
The theme of this year's awareness week, which starts on Monday, is mathematics and dyslexia.
Marilyn Butterworth, principal of the Darlington centre, said: "We hope that parents who are concerned about their children and adults who wonder if they themselves might be dyslexic will come along to visit our centre and find out how we may be able to help.
"Dyslexia mainly causes difficulties with literacy, but some dyslexic people have difficulties with maths and we are trying to raise awareness of this during Dyslexia Awareness Week."
The Darlington centre, at 69 Woodland Road, is holding an open day next Tuesday.
Specialist teachers will be available from 6pm to 8pm to offer advice to visitors.
Reading and spelling tests, with mathematics if appropriate, will be available at the centre for anyone wishing to find out if they are dyslexic.
The tests cost £10 each. For more details call (01325) 283580.
