GHOSTS and ghouls and things that go bump in the night will be roaming the corridors of a castle at Halloween.
Management at the Walworth Castle Hotel, near Darlington, are also hoping two long-term spectral residents will make an appearance this year to make the occasion all the more spooky.
The hotel is staging a supernatural supper featuring ghost stories, pumpkin soup and witches' drumsticks, as well as a tour of its 1381 dungeon on Wednesday.
Owner Chris Swain will be dressing as a vampire, but it is the two ghosts which are said to haunt the castle that could end up being the guests of honour.
A ghostly grey lady is reputed to reside in the castle's library tower, walking through the walls around the spiral staircase, while the apparition of a stable boy is said to stalk the corridors
