INVESTIGATIONS are continuing this morning into an horrific crash which claimed the lives of three people and left another three seriously ill in hospital.
The two-car smash happened last night on a coast road through North Yorkshire.
Police said a BMW saloon and a Vauxhall Astra were in collision on the A165 between Scarborough and Filey.
The drivers of both cars were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Vauxhall was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries.
Three people from the Vauxhall were taken to Scarborough General Hospital with serious injuries, the spokesman added.
Traffic police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which occurred at about 8.30pm at Cayton Bay, near Scarborough.
