PREPARATIONS for Darlington's 20th community carnival have been given a boost by a £1,442 donation from Abbey National.
Yvonne Griffiths, secretary of the Teesside Community Partnership, which is part of the Abbey National Charitable Trust, handed over the cheque to Jackie Maddison, chairman of the carnival committee.
The partnership raised £721 with a grand draw. The sum was matched by Abbey National.
The money is being used to fund art work by school and youth groups from the town, which are busy making models for the carnival parade on Saturday, June 29.
