Tow Law League

Tow Law Football Club lost their unbeaten record when they went down to the visiting Hamilton Row Black Horse and slipped three points behind the leading Tow Law Rose and Crown. Tow Law Cattle Mart and Tow Law North Point both made odd point wins to hold equal third place, three points adrift of Tow Law Football Club.

Hamilton Row started with a win from Chris Elliss but then Terry Ginty and Paul Carroll moved Tow Law Football Club ahead. However the visitors took the remaining singles through John Christalow, John Henderson and Steve Wilkie. The footballers managed to take two of the three doubles but a win from Barry Sims and Derek Graham gave the Horse victory.

Tow Law Rose and Crown maintained their unbeaten record with a good away win over Sunniside Comedian. Only Lee Cullinan and John Hildreth managed to take singles points for the Comedian, whilst Chris Bowes, Andrew Ward, Gavin Hammell and Lee Mowbray.

Bishop Auckland and District League

Bishop Auckland Cumberland Arms made a determined effort to break their duck in the first match of the second half of the season but just failed by three points to the visiting Henknowle Manor House. The Cumberland had two points from Ian Lowes with Dean Nicholson adding one. The Manor had two points each for Peter Merner, John Collinson and Steve Webb with Jon Tomlinson adding one. The Cumberland took the doubles through Stephen Moore and Ian Lowes before Geoff Proud and Peter Merner shared the captain's points.

Bishop Auckland RAFA Club, who are just above the Cumberland Arms in the table, put up a good showing before going down by three points at Bishop Auckland Football Club. The footballers had two points from Tony Lambert, Karl Neilson and Lee Taylor, whilst the RAFA replied with two from Bob Chambers and David Gaskins. The visitors took the doubles through Stephen Cowley with Bob Chambers but Lee Taylor took both captain's points when he beat Simon Roberts.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe went four points clear at the top of the table after they crushed the visiting Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B, who slipped down to sharing fourth place. Spennymoor Ashtree and Crook Coach and Horses share second place, eight points ahead of the Snooker Club B, Tow Law Station and Bishop Auckland King's Head.

Willington League

Ian Richardson of Hunwick Club became the League Singles Champions when he beat Dale Wilson of Willington Black Horse 2-1 in the Final. In the semi-finals Wilson beat Derek Peacock of the Prospect Club 2-0, whilst Richardson beat Phil Blyth of the Prospect Club 2-1.

The Doubles Championship went to Alan Lee senior and Alan Lee junior of Willington Brewer's Droop with a 2-1 victory in the final over Lane Sample and Steven Britton of the Prospect Club. In the semi finals the Lees beat their teammates, Jimmy Fleming and Michael Pickles, whilst Sample and Britton beat Andrew Carr and Jamie Wragg of Hunwick Club - both games finishing in straight frames.

Crook League

Ithe top of the table clash, Crook Travellers Rest B raced into a three-point lead against the visiting league leaders from Crook Olde Horse Shoe A. However from that points the Shoe took charge and went through to win by four points and extend their lead at the top to five points. The Travellers had two points for Lee Taylor and Jim Ainsley with Neil Campbell adding one. The Shoe had two points from Gavin Witton and one each for Stephen Liddle, Cliff Owen, David Stephenson, Gerald Parkin and Brian Johnson. The Shoe also took both doubles.

In the Second Division, Crook Jelly's Bar B had singles points from Michael Harker, Lee Genner, Chris Smith and Neil Stoker with Harker and Genner adding a doubles in the home game against Crook Queen's Head A. The visitors replied with two points each for Dave Willey and John Howarth and one each for Tommy Long staff, Phil Hall, Chris Evans and Phil Smart with Doug Smailes and Neil Harker taking a doubles point.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe A lead the First Division by five points from Crook Travellers Rest B, with Crook Coach and Horses A a further six points adrift. Willington Market lead the Second Division by five points with Crook Jelly's Bar A and Crook White Swan sharing second place.

Spennymoor League

Spennymoor Victoria held on to their third place in the table with a two points victory at Spennymoor Football Club B. The footballers had singles points from J. Plummer and C. Ord whilst A. Cairns, C. Armstrong and A. Shaw put the Vic ahead. The visitors then clinched victory when they took both doubles through M Jayne with C. Armstrong and J. Ibbotson with A. Cairns. The home side narrowed the winning margin when G. Smith beat A. Shaw in the captain's game.

Spennymoor Black Horse lead the table by four points from Spennymoor Quinns Inn, who have a match in hand. The Victoria are now five points behind the Quinns. Spennymoor Pit Laddie picked up their second two points deduction for failing to send in the scorecard for their home match against Spennymoor Voltigeur.
