Newcomers Horden hit double figures for the third match in a row when they beat the visiting Bishop Auckland 10-4. Horden had two wins from Darren Jones, James Evans, John Bourne and Shaun Williams, one win each for Paul Hickman and Tommy Forster. Bishop replied with two wins from Kevin Watson and one each from Mal Parry and Warren Stamp.

Ferryhill moved up into fourth place one point behind Aycliffe A when they won at Durham A 9-5. Ferryhill had two wins from Steve Wray, Steve Webster and Phil Cox, one win each for Chris Murray, Terry Wray and Simon Corbridge.

Durham replied with wins from Dave Neill, Ben Bowen, Lee Holdsworth, Chris Greenwell and Paul Shutt.

Crook B won 8-6 on their visit to Aycliffe A after trailing 3-0. Crook B had two wins from Steve Hunter and Cliffy Owens, one win each from Les Scott, Darren Tinkler, David Stephenson and Gavin Witton. Aycliffe had two wins from Andrew Tuesday and one each from Dave Bromley, Craig Poskett, Johnny Mason and Steve Bainbridge. Shildon also won 8-6 on their visit to Crook A.

Durham B failed to turn up against Consett.

Horden lead the table with a game in hand four points in front of Shildon and 12 points in front of third-placed Aycliffe A.

Bishop Auckland Area League

With only four matches it seems that the Bishop Auckland Kings Head could hold out to beat Bishop Auckland Derby, who are six points adrift.

Spennymoor Wheatsheaf got off to a good start this week when they played host to the

Bishop Auckland Green Tree with Martin Miller and Andy Mole winning the first two singles games but the Tree then staged a comeback and took the next two games through Simon Hamilton and Neil Brown to level the score. The comeback was short-lived though and Garry Brown won the final singles game for the home side. It was one way traffic from then on with the Wheatsheaf winning the first doubles through Steve Horner and Garry Brown, the second through Kelvin Anderson and Andy Mole and finally John Ivey winning the captains to leave the final score at 6-2.

Spennymoor Victoria's visit to Bishop Auckland Derby got off to the worst possible start when the home side's Stuart Milne and Andrew Delve took the opening two singles games. Steven Hodgson then won the third game for the visitors before the Derby finished off the singles with Steven Lowther and Kevin Singleton taking the final two frames to leave the score at 4-1. The doubles were shared with Andy Cairns and Steven Cranswick winning the first for the Victoria and Stuart Milne and Jeff Dixon winning the second for the Derby. Unfortunately one of the Victoria's players was called away and they had to forfeit the captains game making the final score 6-2 to the Derby.
