CHILDREN on a Darlington estate have been putting their creative talents to good use.

With the help of other residents, youngsters on the Firthmoor estate have designed and painted their own community mural.

Gateshead artist Steve Hunter has been working with people on the estate during the summer holidays, as part of the Firthmoor Regeneration Arts Project and Oratorio.

The mural will be displayed at the Firthmoor Community Centre, in Burnside Road.

Shutters for a row of shops on the estate have also been painted with specially designed emblems.

The arts regeneration project is co-ordinated by Kari Vickers, community arts officer at Darlington Borough Council with help from youth workers and volunteers at the centre. Darlington Borough Council has funded the project.
