COURSES FOR WOMEN: Bridge Women's Education and Support Trust is holding a number of courses in various venues throughout Washington.

SNOW CHAMPION: Jamie Wallace, a PE teacher at Oxclose Secondary School, won this year's World Artificial Ski Slope Championships held at Copley, near Butterknowle.

WILDFOWL TRAIL: The Washington Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is holding its Wetlands of the World Trail until tomorrow. The trail gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about wetlands and their importance to both people and endangered species of wild fowl.

ASTHMA SUPPORT GROUP:

Volunteers are needed by Washington Asthma Awareness, set up by Margaret Etchells to establish a support group for parents and children with asthma. More details are available from Margaret on 0191-416 2579.

FUND RAISING: Regulars at the Bird, in Concord, raised £16.66 for the Washington Disabled Association.

FUN NIGHT: The Foresters Arms in Concord holds a fun night with games, karaoke, prizes and free drinks each Friday.

ON THE BEACH: The Sandpiper, in Biddick, is holding a beach party today to raise funds for pensioners' Christmas treats.
