The Under-14s remain top of the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League following last weekend's convincing 7-0 win over Spennymoor on a mudbath of a pitch. Despite a very heavy playing surface after some torrential rain, Coxhoe attempted to play passing football and were rewarded with goals from Jamie Lawson (3), Ben Raine (2), Michael Owen and Nathan Ward.

Lee Soppitt returned to action after recovering from a broken wrist, but the Coxhoe curse has struck again as David Taylor becomes the latest player to suffer the same injury. Carl Sanderson had a broken wrist some months ago.

The mudbath playing surface meant that by full-time the players were covered in more dirt than usual, so a special mention goes to Linda Orton for putting the kits through five washes to get them clean.

Coxhoe pulled away from one-time pace-setters, Seaham Red Star, who were without a game for the second consecutive week and the sides meet at the beginning of next month.
