A NEW attempt is being made to get Redcar's Town Clock ticking again.
The Redcar Town Centre Management Executive has submitted a revised application for £10,000 from the West Redcar Single Regeneration Budget to carry out an expert survey of the broken clock.
The bid, expected to be discussed by the SRB next month, would produce a full implementation plan, including detailed costings. The plan would also identify additional funding sources to finance a restoration project, that would include illuminating the clock, costing more than £100,000.
The King Edward VII Memorial Clock is a Grade II listed building and one of only 15 buildings of special architectural or historic interest in Redcar.
It was erected by public subscription in 1913 to designs by William Duncan, a Middlesbrough architect.
