A 59-YEAR-OLD woman sobbed in court as she was told she almost certainly faces jail for illegally supplying heroin.

Edith Bradley, of Broughton Avenue, Easterside, Middlesbrough, was charged with supplying diamorphine - the clinical word for heroin - to another person between May 29 and June 6, last year.

She pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court yesterday and will be sentenced after pre-sentence and psychiatric reports are compiled. She was released on bail.

However, Judge Michael Taylor said: "I warn you this is a serious offence and almost certainly you will go to prison in due course."

Earlier, Edith Bradley's barrister, Paul Newcombe, asked the court if proceedings could be delayed because his client, who was in tears, was "terribly confused" and under "great torment".
