Residents in Hartlepool are being invited to attend a Civic Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday.

Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond and Hartlepool Borough Council chairman Councillor Carl Richardson will host the event at St Hilda's Church, on the Headland, at 3pm. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Peter Kashouris, rector of St Hilda's Church. It replaces the Mayor's Sunday Service, which was previously held by the ceremonial mayor. CHARITY CASH: Claire Linden, Jemma Angus and Katie Sanderson, of the sixth form charity committee at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, in Hartlepool, raised £300 for Butterwick Hospice by holding raffles and coffee mornings last year. This year's committee, Paul Anderson, Shaun Purdy and Nadia Hasan, have presented a cheque to the hospice. A fashion show will be held at The Swallow Hotel, High Street, Stockton, in aid of the hospice, on Sunday, April 13, at 7pm. Tickets are £3.50, available at the door.

EASTER FAIR: An Easter fair will be held at Coatham Community Centre, behind the health centre, on Saturday, April 12, from 9.30am to noon. Admission is free.

CAR SHOWSRROM: Stockton Borough Council has received a planning application to alter five business units at Hunters Buildings, in Bowesfield Lane, Stockton into two units to form a retail unit and car showroom.

VOLUNTEERS' VOICE: Hartlepool and District Hospice is holding a volunteers' update meeting in the Sir William Grey suite, at Hartlepool Historic Quay on Wednesday, April 23, at 7pm. Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm and volunteers are welcome.
