JOBCENTRE staff will be pushing the boat out at a rowing regatta to find summer jobs for students.

Visitors to the Durham Annual Amateur Rowing Regatta this weekend will be able to find out about their job prospects.

Janet Kelly, captain of the recruitment crew and a recruitment consultant at Durham City Jobcentre Plus said: "Many of the students studying at Durham and those visiting Durham for the regatta from around the country head home at the end of the summer semester.

"Before they go, our experienced crew of advisors, who will be at the regatta over the weekend, can help them start looking for a summer job.

"We have access to more than 300,000 jobs around the country, including thousands of summer vacancies, so now is a good time to start looking."

Summer jobs on offer include work in shops, as well as vacancies in pubs and bars.

Danielle Devlin, of Durham City Jobcentre Plus, took time out to get a bit of practice on the River Wear before the regatta begins this weekend.

She said: "We will, of course, be delighted to help anybody who is looking for work, not just students, and have a comprehensive range of full and part-time jobs on our database."
