Easington District councillors for the Dawdon ward will be holding a ward surgery in the Dawdon Miners' Welfare Centre, in Mount Stewart Street, Dawdon, on Monday, May 19, between 6pm and 7pm, to deal with any problems that their constituents' might have.

BLUES NIGHT: Durham's Gala Theatre is hosting the American Festival of Blues, featuring Dietra Farr, Bobby Parker and Louisiana Red, backed by the Otis Grand Big Blues Band, on Tuesday, at 8pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and £14 and are available on 0191-332 4041.

TRIBUTE BAND: A Blondie tribute band will play at the Consett Civic Hall, at 7pm, on Saturday, May 17. Money raised by the event, organised by the West Derwentside Partnership, will go toward taking handicapped people to Lourdes. Tickets cost £3.

MUSIC LIVE: The Durham Cultural Services Music Live in the Libraries will feature Ensemble 4 in the Lanchester Library at 7.30pm, on Thursday, May 22. The internationally-renowed clarinet quartet will play music from Bach to the Beatles and Beyond. Tickets are £4, or £2 for concessions.

COMMUNITY MEETING: The Havannah Community Partnership holds its annual meeting in the Family Resource Centre, Stanley, on Wednesday at 7pm.

COMMUNITY FAIR: The Wingate and District Community Centre is holding a fair tomorrow. Local organisations such as the Women's Institute, toddlers' groups, Guides and Brownies will have stalls. There will be cake stalls, a tombola, toiletries, crafts, books, face-painting, a raffle and refreshments.

HEALTH MEETING: Gateshead Mental Health Services holds a public meeting to look at proposals to improve facilities in the west of the borough, in St Barnabus Church Hall, Stirling Lane, Rowlands Gill, on Monday, at 6pm.
