Darlington continue their preparations for the new season at Durham City today and manager Mick Tait is predicting another tough test as his side look to preserve their 100 per cent record in pre-season.

Quakers opened with a 2-1 win at Bishop Auckland seven days ago, followed by Tuesday night's victory at Blyth.

And this afternoon Tait will be hoping to make it three wins out of three against the Albany Northern League First Division outfit, who are expected to hand a start to former Hartlepool striker Stephen Halliday.

"I'm sure the Durham lads will be well up for the game and it should be another good test for us," said Tait.

"It should be another competitive game but I wouldn't want it any other way.

"Our approach and attitude in the last games has been excellent.

"We still have some work to do but I've been very pleased with the way things have gone so far."

Tait is expected to name a full strength line-up for today's game just 24 hours after Quakers took part in a practice match with Premiership neighbours Middlesbrough at Hurworth.

"It was a good training exercise for both teams," said Tait.

"We both played our first teams for the first hour and then our reserve sides after that.

"We played very well, passed the ball around very well on a very good surface.

"I was very pleased with the way it went."

Tait, meanwhile, last night said that talks were "ongoing" with a number of transfer targets.

The Quakers boss has so far endured a frustrating summer in his attempts to bring in new blood but hopes to make some progress next week with at least one of four players he has held talks with.

A goalkeeper remains Tait's number one priority following last week's news that Andy Collett faces three months on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

The Quakers number one underwent an operation yesterday and isn't expected to return to first-team action until October.

Tait is also keen to bring in a central defender following Stuart Whitehead's departure last month as well as a midfielder and a striker.

Tom Newey, who turned down a permanent switch to Quakers following a successful loan spell, has rejoined Leyton Orient on trial after failing to earn a move to QPR.

"Tom did well in one game for QPR but they didn't keep him so he's come here to train for a week with a view to move," said Os boss Paul Brush.
