THE British Army's parachute regiments will be bolstered by the arrival of more recruits after a passing out parade at Catterick Garrison's Infantry Training Centre, in North Yorkshire, yesterday.
Fifty young men donned the coveted red beret after successfully completing 26 gruelling weeks of training, which included making a required number of jumps to win their parachute wings.
The Red Devils Parachute Display Team was planning a visit to the Garrison's Helles Barracks but had to call off the drop because of yesterday morning's high winds.
However, the recruits' achievements were recognised by the British Army's Chief of General Staff and Colonel Commandant of the Parachute Regiment, General Sir Mike Jackson, who made the inspection and presented the awards.
