Wolviston, who let a two goal lead slip from their grasp at Birtley Town on Saturday, were in no mood for a repeat performance when they met Annfield Plain at Metcalfe Park on Wednesday night.

They again led by two goals at the interval but on this occasion built on their advantage and ran out 4-0 winners. Andy Steele hit a hat-trick and Kieron White also struck.

Ferryhill Athletic drew their second successive game, holding Darlington RA to a 1-1 draw at Brinkburn Road. Mark Stephenson put the visitors ahead before Stephen Roberts equalised in the 40th minute.

Champions Birtley Town, after defeating Wolviston 3-2 on Saturday, suffered a 4-1 defeat visiting Boldon CA for whom Michael Meek recorded a hat-trick and Stephen Williams also found the net. Anthony Lynch hit a consolation goal for Birtley.

New Marske just had the edge on Stokesley SC winning by a single goal while Jarrow and Ryhope CW figured in a 1-1 draw. Dean Patton put the South Tyneside team ahead in the 11th minute and within a minute Ryhope levelled when Stephen Rochester was on target.

North Shields recorded the biggest win of the night, finishing 6-0 in front of Washington Nissan UK. Anthony Robson (2), Paul Blakey, Andy Stokes, David Little (penalty) and Eddie Miller all struck.

Ross Murray bagged a brace of goals and Danny Harrison also netted in Barnard Castle Glaxo's 3-3 with Whitehaven an Cleadon SC won the local-derby at Harton and Westoe 2-0 with goals from Andrew Quinn (penalty) and Peacock.

A penalty by Joe Shepherd after just 12 minutes was sufficient for Windscale against Gateshead Reserves.
