TWO children's discos have raised £500 for cash-strapped Darlington Football Club.

The events took place at the town's Galaxy Suite, in North Road, in February.

Sixty businesses and individuals bought tickets, which were then given to local children.

Quakers manager David Hodgson and captain Neil Maddison lent their support to the events and the proceeds were presented to the club last weekend.

Actor Francis Matthews, who was the voice of television puppet Captain Scarlet, in the 1960s, also supported the discos and paid for some of the tickets.
