TEENAGER Hannah Craggs has won herself a dream trip to London - and she'll be stepping out in style.

The Ripon youngster took part in a national competition to design the best walk-to-school outfit.

And the 16-year-old was one of five from across the country who beat off the challenge from hundreds of others. As well as the trip to London, she has won tickets for the Design Centre and vouchers to spend at Top Shop.

The Step Out In Style competition was part of the Government's Travelling to School Initiative, which aims to reduce the proportion of home to school journeys by private car in order to cut congestion and pollution and encourage pupils to get more exercise.

The competition challenged children to design an outfit that was both stylish and able to stand up to the changeable British weather.

The youngsters were encouraged to let their imaginations run wild, and not to worry about school uniform rules.

Margaret Jackson, of the Regional Government Office's transport team, said: "The judges were very impressed by the creativity and the effort children put into their submissions.

"Hannah deserves praise for standing out amongst such strong competition."
