DETECTIVES investigating an armed robbery have released CCTV images of the offender.
A man entered the staff room at the NCP car park on Tanner Row, York at about 6am yesterday morning.
He threatened the attendant with a small kitchen-type knife before punching him in the face and stealing a sum of cash.
The offender is described as white, about 6ft tall with a stocky build. He was dressed in a black jacket, black jeans and black shoes and was wearing a balaclava and gloves which were also black.
Images of the man leaving the building show him carrying a black Nike rucksack on his back.
The bag was stolen from the premises in which to carry the stolen cash The victim, a 43-year-old local man, did not require treatment but was left shaken by the incident.
DC Lee Boyeson, of York CID, said the victim is “shocked and upset” by this incident and police are keen to find the offender as quickly as possible.
He said: “We’ve had a team of detectives and crime scene investigators at the car park throughout the morning, and we are examining CCTV footage in the area.
“I am appealing to anyone who was near the car park at the time of the incident to think back and see if they remember anyone acting suspiciously.
“It was quite early in the morning but people may have been on their way to work or on their way home from a night shift and could have seen something that will help the investigation.
“If anyone saw a man matching the description of the offender or has any other information that could help the enquiry then I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.”
