A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after he was struck by a lorry on the A1.
The 59-year-old man was injured in an incident on the southbound carriageway one mile south of Catterick at about 11.50am today.
He was taken to the James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, by the Great North Air Ambulance.
The road is closed while police investigate the cause of the accident.
