A MAN appeared in court on Friday accused of killing his partner in a drunken earlymorning car crash.

Paul Errington pleaded not guilty to causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.

Denise Emers was a passenger in a Peugeot 406 coupe that crashed on the A689 between Sedgefield and Wynyard, in County Durham.

The 37-year-old mother-ofthree, from Norton, near Stockton, died after the car left the road and ended up in a field.

Mr Errington, 38, of Salvin Terrace, Fishburn, near Sedgefield, appeared at Teesside Crown Court.

No date was set for his trial during the brief hearing in front of the Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Peter Fox.
