TRAIN company Grand Central has warned passengers without seat reservations that they may have to stand on one of its services this weekend.
The firm said it expected its 5.10pm service from Sunderland to London Kings Cross on Sunday would be "exceptionally busy".
GCR services are operating to a revised timetable because of engineering works on the East Coast Mainline on Sunday.
It said any customers wishing to postpone their travel until Monday could do so at any extra cost and their existing ticket would be accepted on any Grand Central southbound service.
