THE US space shuttle Endeavour blasted off on one of its last scheduled missions yesterday.
Endeavour, with six crew members on board including Dr Nicholas Patrick – originally from Saltburn, east Cleveland – took off in darkness from Cape Canaveral at 9.14am GMT.
Dr Patrick, 45, is part of a team that will spend 13 days working on the International Space Station.
Married with three children, Dr Patrick lives in Connecticut. He became a US citizen in 1994.
