A WOMAN who suffered in pain for years has spoken of the improvement in her life since being diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency.
Susan White, 45, from Widdrington, Northumberland, injured her back and, because she was allergic to fish, she developed a vitamin D deficiency.
"I fell and fractured my spine in two places," she said.
"I was in constant pain and couldnt even get out of bed without help. I had no strength.
"I lost about a stone and a half in weight in six months and my life was badly affected.
"I went to hospital and at first I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. But then I went to see Professor Pearce and he said I had osteomalacia, caused by vitamin D deficiency.
"It was a very simple treatment, just some injections with vitamin D and the improvement was immediate. I have been given my life back."
