POLICE are appealing for help in tracing the driver of a car which crashed into a house after failing to stop when requested.
The incident started at about 9.30pm on Christmas Day when officers in a police car attempted to stop and check a Mitsubishi Shogun estate, registration number P142 PWW.
The vehicle failed to stop and drove away in the direction of Yarm Road. It was snowing heavily at the time.
The car entered Ridsdale Street where the driver lost control.
His vehicle left the carriageway, colliding with the window of a house and rebounding to strike a parked vehicle. Both the house and vehicle were damaged.
The Mitsubishi fled the scene and officers halted the pursuit for saftey reasons.
The car was later recovered, but the driver had fled.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0345-60-60-365, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
