POLICE are appealing for information about an attack on a teenager, after confirming they are investigating an allegation of rape.
Detectives in Bishop Auckland are investigating the attack on an 18-year-old woman in Cockfield, County Durham, last week.
Officers were called to the area near the Queen's Head pub early on the morning of Wednesday, December 9, after a report of a suspected theft of diesel from a tank.
When they arrived, an allegation of assault against the woman was made.
The victim received treatment at Darlington Memorial Hospital but has since returned home.
Five local men aged in their late teens were arrested later that day on suspicion of rape.
They were questioned at police stations in Durham City, Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland and Darlington and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
