A WOMAN who got out of a car after it crashed on the A64 was killed when she was struck by another vehicle.
The woman was a passenger in a silver Mercedes along with another woman and two men, travelling between Tadcaster and York, in the early hours of Sunday.
At about 2.40am the driver lost control, and the car came to rest straddling the centre barrier.
The two women got out and were struck by another vehicle.
They were both taken to York District Hospital, where one of the women died.
The other is said to be in a serious condition.
The drivers of the two vehicles involved were arrested, and one has been released on police bail.
