Stolen car crashes after driving wrong way down road

A STOLEN car travelled the wrong way down a busy road before crashing head on into another vehicle.

The accident, which happened around 10am yesterday, was on Portrack Lane Stockton, near to entrance to B and Q.

A spokesman for Cleveland Police said a stolen Citroen Xsara was seen by officers in the Asda store car park.

When it saw police it left and drove wrong way down the carriageway.

The car collided head on with green Ford Focus that had entered Portrack Lane from the A19.

The female driver of the Focus suffered minor injuries.

Two males in the Citroen suffered minor injuries, a third suffered a punctured lung.

All were treated in hospital. The one with the punctured lung was detained, while the other two were arrested.

The spokesman said the stolen vehicle was not being pursued by police.
