Drivers hurt in two-car crash

A DRIVER is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a two-car crash last night.
The accident happened on the A1288 in Washington at 10.20pm, near the A1231 Millhouse roundabout.
A Vuaxhall Astra travelling west collided with a Nissan Micra which was leaving the roundabout, travelling east.
Both drivers were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The Astra driver was later discharged, but the Micra drivers remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The B1288 was closed for one and a half hours while police investigated the collision and cleared debris.
