Woman cut free after Shildon road accident

A WOMAN trapped in her car after it was involved in a collision was cut free by firefighters.

The accident which involved a car and a light van happened at about 6.20pm on Thursday night near to the Hackworth Industrial Park in Shildon, County Durham.

Fire crews from Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe attended along with police and paramedics.

They used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman, who was taken by ambulance to Darlington Memorial Hospital.

She suffered neck and back injuries.
