CHILDREN have honed their entrepreneurial skills by taking part in a real-life challenge set by a multimillion pound business.

More than 40 students from schools across Durham and the Tees Valley took on a true situation faced by Middlesbrough Football Club.

The task involved coming up with solutions to low attendance of Category C matches.

Each team was given 90 minutes to prepare a presentation, with limited resources.

The challenge culminated in presenting work to a panel of judges including chairman of the Enterprise Academy, George Cook, Middlesbrough FC operations manager Neil Bauser and Enterprise UK North-East region head Louise Kempton.

Pupils from Hummersknott School, in Darlington, won the challenge and will go on to present their ideas at the national final at Manchester City’s ground, on Monday, December 7.

The event aimed to help participants develop entrepreneurial skills, such as product design, PR, marketing, promotions and retail and is part of Global Enterprise Week.
