A WOMAN killed in a road traffic accident has tonight been named by police.
Sarah Jane Roberts, 30, from Thornaby, died after her VW Golf collided with a white panel van near Coxhoe, County Durham, at about 10am today.
The incident happened on the A177, just south of Coxhoe.
Police closed the road for investigations, but it was reopened by about 4pm.
The male driver of the van was taken to University Hospital of North Durham for treatment for minor injuries and shock before being released.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died following a morning rush-hour collision in Middlesbrough.
The 18-year-old, who is from Middlesbrough, but has not yet been named, was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital with undisclosed injuries, where he later died.
Two fire engines from Middlesbrough fire station and one from Coulby Newham attended the incident, on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough, which was closed for several hours.
A 48-year-old woman driver of a Skoda Fabia was unhurt in the crash, which happened at the junction with West Lane at about 7.45am on Friday.
