THE region’s first ever alpaca show took place on Saturday.
Around 150 of the animals, which are native to South America, were on display at Thirsk Auction Mart, in North Yorkshire.
The show was run under the rules of the British Alpaca Society, and judged by top Australian judge Tim Hey.
As well as the animals, there were trade stands, including knitwear made from both Peruvian and British alpacas for people to buy.
Alpacas originate in South America but they are becoming increasingly popular in Europe. It is estimated there are more than 20,000 in the UK.
