A BLIND North-East charity worker has driven a Lamborghini sports car at 104mph.
Jim Welch, 59, who lost his sight seven years ago due to a medical condition, roared around the Elvington Airfield, in York, in a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Although Mr Welch was steering, his every move was guided verbally by a qualified instructor.
“It was absolutely brilliant,” said Mr Welch, who is also a wheelchair user and runs the Blind Life in Durham charity in Crook, County Durham.
“I really trusted my instructor, his calm manner gave me the confidence to really go for it,” said Mr Welch.
The experience costs £84 as a member of the Royal National Institute for the Blind or £99 for a nonmember, through the RNIB.
