AN athlete is preparing for her final training meeting before jetting off to Australia for the World Transplant Games.
Swimmer Denise Baker from Cockerton in Darlington is among the 120 athletes selected for the United Kingdom squad for the event.
Mrs Baker, 50, will be training with the rest of the UK team at University of Warwick.
It will be her seventh World Transplant Games.
Last summer, she took gold, silver and bronze medals in various swimming disciplines during the British Transplant Games.
Lynne Holt, UK Team Manager said: "At this final training meet, the athletes should now be in peak condition in preparation for the World Games in Australia.
"The British and World Transplant Games would not be possible without the generosity of the organ donors and the sponsors, who ensure that these athletes can demonstrate the benefits of lifesaving transplantation."
The World Transplant Games aims to raise awareness of the ongoing need for organ donors, and to encourage people to sign up to the organ donor register.
