Lacey Green and Loosley Row

1:02pm Wednesday 22nd August 2001

THE Loosley Row and Lacey Green Horticultural Society's Annual Show was held last Saturday. The show was very successful with a good attendance, and almost one third of the 90 members competed. One hundred and forty-five entries were received in all.

The Plowman Cup (vegetables) was presented to Syd Saunders. Jill Langlois gained top marks in the domestic section for which she won the Domestic Salver. Doreen Ellis won the Marshall Cup (fruit). The Hughenden Cup, for the highest overall points, and the Bill Cleaver Award for the best exhibit in the show were both won by Michael Hardy.

The society is grateful to the Pink and Lily for their support and sponsorship.

THE Lacey Green Windmill will not open at all this year. The Chiltern Society and the restoration committee have decided that this is for the best, as the mill is on farmland, and within a radius of three miles there are several farms. Although foot and mouth is not in this county, it is still about elsewhere. It will open in May 2002.
